Meet our Boat Shed Chat star guests

We've got a great line up of sailing royalty coming to this year's Boat Shed Chat. Here's a bit of info on each of them.

Erica Dawson

Erica represented New Zealand at both the Tokyo and Paris Olympics in the Nacra class. She won a Bronze Medal in the Nacra at the Paris Olympics earlier this year.

Following the Olympics she travelled to Barcelona and was a member of Emirates Team New Zealand at the inaugural PUIG Women's America's Cup.

Erica's efforts in the past twelve months earned her the accolade of Female Sailor of the year at the 2024 Yachting New Zealand Excellence awards.

Matthew Steven

Matt has spent the last few years coaching the New Zealand 49er representatives at the Paris Olympics.

Matt's coaching prowess saw the 49er team move from underdogs for selection a few years out, to securing the selection and then go on to win a Silver medal at the Paris Olympics.

Matt, was recognised as the Coach of the year at 2024 Yachting New Zealand Excellence awards. His appearance will be something of a home coming as he grew up sailing at Worser Bay.

Brett Linton

Brett needs no introduction as he is a legend at Worser Bay. His prowess on the race track across many fleets over the years has seen him win multiple national championship titles.

Brett's prowess behind the sewing machine saw him recongnised by America's Cup Events Ltd who bought him in to help run the hugely successful Youth and Women's America's Cups in Barcelona.

Never short of a yarn, its is going to be really interesting to hear Brett's stories from behind the scenes.

Josh Junior

Having grown up on the waters of Worser Bay, Josh has gone on to represent New Zealand at two Olympics, three America's Cups, and in three seasons of Sail GP racing. He has won a couple of world championships and a Sydney Hobart race along the way!

A stong advocate of the adage 'that you can do anything from Wellington', Josh is back for his third Boat Shed Chat appearance. We look forward to hearing from Josh about some of the secrets behind Emirates Team NZ's dominance in Barcelona.

Peter Lester

Peter is the voice of the Olympics and the America's Cup. For many years now he has been part of the commentatry team for both events translating what is happening on the water for the general and sailing public alike.

A highly accomplished sailor in his own right, Peter will act as our interveiwer during the Boat Shed Chat, expertly extracting for us the secrets to our stars' successes.

And Peter's own stories will be worth listening to as well!!!

These legends will take us behind the scenes with riveting stories from the recent Olympics and America’s Cup, offering insights, laughs, and inspiration. Whether you’re a sailing enthusiast or just love a good yarn, this is an event not to miss.

Mark your calendars and join us for an evening of tales, camaraderie, and a shared passion for sailing. It’s going to be a great night out for the whole family, young and old.
