Current Australian Female Sailor of the Year, she won the open women’s world Laser championship in England in 1977 and 33 years later returned to claim the 2010 World Laser Radial Grand Master title.
Andrew Fagan
Following the success of The Mockers' 1985 hit "Forever Tuesday Morning", Fagan won the RIANZ 1985 award for Top Male Vocalist of the Year.1 Since the Mockers broke up, he has recorded and performed as a solo artist under the name Fagan and with his band LIG. He has authored a sailing-themed autobiography, Swirly World, the Solo Voyages (2002), and several collections of poetry. He has also been involved with the TVNZ Intrepid Journeys television series.

Our sailors on the international stageRecent years have seen a number of WBBC sailors competing in overseas events. William Novak represented New Zealand in July at the IODA Asian champs 2011. Results 69/84 male division. Ken Tildesley competed for NZ at IODA Opti Euro Champs 2010. Results: 99/146 in the male division, 2nd NZ'er. Nick Thyne competed for NZ at IODA Asian Champs 2010. Results: 36/73 in male division. Karl Purdie won gold in World OK Dinghy class champs 2010 and was awarded Wellington 2010 Sportsman of the year. Karl has now moved to the Finn class this season and has already won the Finn National Champs and has set his sites on representing NZ at the 2016 Olympics.
Josh Junior, both a member of RPNYC and WBBC is a top international sailor and recently was placed 6th in the Mens World Laser Championship. Josh's goal is to compete for NZ in the Olympic games in sailing. Josh has recently moved to the Finn Class and has set his sites on representing NZ at the 2016 Olympics. Josh Porebski, a member of the NZL Yachting Trust Youth Team competed at the Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship July 8 to 17 in Istanbul Turkey. Following the Youth Worlds Josh moved on to Youth Laser Radial Worlds July 18 to 25 in Largs Scotland.
Emma and Sarah Berry went to Holland in 2010 to compete in the Open 470 Worlds.
